"Between Sweden and Dortmund the quartet produced an album in “Pine Trees” that you do not hear every day: It is sensuous, powerful and smart."

Monoculars always had a lot of melancholy in them. She was only transformed in a strange way on Pine Trees. They separated her from the bitter depression and sweetened her in a way. Bitter-sweetness, also sweetness. But melancholy is weird. Especially somehow unexpected. Few would have guessed that there would probably be a change, but few would say such a turnaround to the band. Monocular only started as a married duo on a trip-hop wave. Singer Nic Koray and guitarist Jan Koray now remain the pillars of the band, they are no longer in the spirit of the duet, but have released two other band members: Monocularbubeník and bassist. So a "regular band" was formed. But that doesn't change the fact that the music is again coming from the workshop of Nic and Jan - most of the material for the new album (after all, the old album was the same) began to put together in their summer home somewhere in southern Sweden, far from the gray industrial German Dortmund, from which the Monoculars come. Place of origin the same, but the end result is diametrically different. Quite a strange melancholy… Rock, but clear, pop, but unconventional, and trip-hop, but other influences already almost rolled over.
