Juice Newton - The Trouble With Angels (1998)

Juice Newton spent most of the '90s as a concert act, staying out of the studio for years. As the decade drew to a close, she reunited with producer Richard Landis, the man who helmed the boards for her biggest hits, to record The Trouble With Angels. Unfortunately, the album wasn't a full-fledged comeback -- seven of the ten tracks were re-recordings of hits like "Angel of the Morning" and "Queen of Hearts," with only three songs being new to her repertoire. Presumably, this course was taken with the idea that it would remind audiences of why Newton was a star, but the lack of new material is nevertheless quite disappointing for longtime fans. That said, she's in fine voice on the record, and the album is hardly bad. It's just that it would have been nice if Newton had decided to make her comeback with an album that felt brand new, not like a retread.
