Milestones - Emigration (Reissue) (1971-73/2002)

The Milestones were an Austrian music group that was founded in 1968. The founding members were Günther Grosslercher, Beatrix Neundlinger, Robert Unterweger and Rudi Tinsobin.

Grosslercher and Unterweger were already making music together and were looking for a singer. Neundlinger was in his first year of mathematics at the Vienna University of Technology, but her two colleagues were already 4 semesters further when they met.

At the Show Chance 1969, organized by the television stations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, they took first place with the title Once (the Philosopher's Stone becomes soft) (G. Grosslercher - M. Schreiber). This title also appeared on the first single - the first LP followed in 1970.

You soon got to know Heinz R. Unger and the group Butterflies and exchanged views on music and social criticism.

In 1972 there was a reshuffle: The members were now Beatrix Neundlinger, Günther Grosslercher, Christian Kolonovits and Norbert Niedermayer. This line-up of the milestones represented Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest 1972 with Falter im Wind (text: H. Unger - music: Rigoni / Schönherz) and reached 5th place. Beatrix Neundlinger represented Austria again in the group Butterflies (1977), one year later Niedermayer sang in the group Springtime.

In 1973 Chris van der Schyf played drums, who were replaced by Fritz Matzka in 1974.

In 1975 the band broke up - Beatrix Neundlinger and Günther Grosslercher joined the group Butterflies, Norbert Niedermayer joined the band Springtime, and Christian Kolonovits switched to composing and arranging.
