Second album from Høst, the quartet led collectively by Carla Gaudré, Dorian Dutech, Pierre Terrisse and Théo Teboul, Kos is in line with the previous one. Some time ago, they had made Doppler, a first record which had set them up very well on a Toulouse scene that was nevertheless full of excellent projects. For this one they invited, each on a piece, Ferdinand Doumerc, mischievous saxophonist of Pulcinella, Nicolas Gardel, trumpeter who goes up, who goes up, who goes up, and Jeff Taylor, met during a first part of Donny. McCaslin, sorry! in 2019 on the Marciac festival stage.
The fact remains that, without minimizing the talents of their guests who have also participated in the arrangements of the pieces on which they intervene, it is above all an album of the quartet and it is indeed the music of these four that is given to hear here. Besides, they are, as was the case with Doppler, turned towards Norway. This attraction is certainly strong, since "kos" in Norway is "the art of cultivating good times". A welcome program and a record that fulfills this promise. The often voluminous layers, the sounds that unfold with grace, the monumental character, even intimidating, allow this music to be considered as a belvedere of choice on the Norwegian fjords or the Pyrenean mountains that we imagine to see emerging from the garden of these four Occitans .
