Fleetwood Mac - Live In Amsterdam 1969 (2020) Hi-Res

This midnight performance in Amsterdam for a Dutch “Pop Party” radio broadcast followed an earlier gig at the Congresgebouw in The Hague, 66 km away. Opener Merry Go-Round is a Peter Green original taken from the group’s eponymous debut release, followed by the track they opened with in The Hague, One Sided Love, a Danny Kirwan composition that they never cut in the studio. Next up is Dust My Broom, the first of three Elmore James songs played at this gig. Jeremy Spencer takes centre stage playing slide guitar and singing Elmore’s Got to Move that first appeared on his posthumous 1966 LP I Need You. Then follows a Peter Green Instrumental believed to be titled Green Thoughts. Sugar Man Blues (also known as Sugar Mama) is a traditional blues standard written by either Memphis Minnie or Bessie Smith but the band would have heard it on Howlin’ Wolf’s 1964 Folk Festival of the Blues album. Talk To Me Baby (or I Can’t Hold Out) is the third Elmore James tune and the broadcast ends with another version of Freddy Cannon’s Tallahassie Lassie. It was one of only two songs they duplicated at their double bill extravaganza that night.
