Following singles ‘Fool‘, ‘Destroy Everything‘, ‘Dead and Gone‘ and ‘Halo‘, Melbourne singer-songwriter Jess Locke releases her third album Don’t Ask Yourself Why, out on Dot Dash Recordings. The album traverses themes of human behaviour, our egos and self-reflection and was recorded with bandmates James Morris and Chris Rawsthorne, and produced by Rob Muiños (Saskwatch, Julia Jacklin) in a tiny studio in the back of a guitar shop in Collingwood, before it was mastered by John Davis at Metropolis in the UK (Lana Del Ray, The Killers, Gorillaz).
Locke has also shared a new video clip for track ‘Little Bit Evil’, as premiered by Happy Mag. A song about how no one is all good or all bad. We all do good things and bad things and our flaws are what make us human. The dirtiness of the track reflects this notion and is a celebration of the idea. On shooting the clip with Nick Manuell, Locke said “This was a really fun video to make! Especially after being locked down for so long, it was really fun to get together with Nick and a bunch of our friends and dress up and get very silly. The craftiness of the skeleton costumes was a little bit inspired by Michel Gondry who we love and are always trying to rip off in some way.”
