TWO4PIANO - Evocation of Dance (2021)

When Katerina Moskaleva and Alexey Pudinov met for the first time,it was as if two forces of nature got together: female and male, low tide and high tide, fire and water – elements like yin and yang that blended into a new entity by playing piano. It was at the Rheingau Musik Festival that Katerina and Alexey came to each other’s attention for the first time. There, both pianists were giving their debuts together with the famous clarinetist and composer, Jörg Widmann. Shortly afterwards, the two aspiring musicians founded the piano duo TWO4PIANO. After that, everything went quickly. The organization Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now added the freshly founded duo, domiciled in Frankfurt, to its support program. Only two years later, Katerina and Alexey won the first prize of the North West International Piano Ensemble Competition 2018 in Vancouver, Canada. As winners of the crowdfunding initiative “kulturMut”, the two received a further significant funding. This all took place over only two years. Experiencing the duo’s vibrancy, this doesn’t come as a surprise. That both musicians feel love for dance and rhythm makes them a fabulous match. This becomes apparent in their programs and is also true for their recent CD, “Evocation of Dance”.
