Igor Stravinsky - Stravinsky: Capriccio, Octet, Pulcinella, Duo concertant & Jeu de cartes (2021)

This is the third volume of our Stravinsky “historical recordings” series. The composer forged strong artistic links with the conductor Ernest Ansermet whom he met during his Swiss stay during the war. The latter premiered the Soldier’s Tale in 1918, and a few years later the Capriccio for piano and orchestra, with Stravinsky himself as a soloist. Here is a 1930 recording with the same cast. This album also contains Pulcinella and Jeu de cartes conducted by Stravinsky, and the Duo concertant here performed with violinist Samuel Dushkin, which was composed for the tour both were giving in Europe in 1932-1933.
