Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, Ryan Beach is a multi-faceted modern musician with eclectic interests that have taken him around the world. Currently Principal Trumpet of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, Beach also served in that role with the Indianapolis Symphony and Charlottesville Opera Festival. He has spent two summers as a Tanglewood fellow in Lenox, Massachusetts. As a soloist, he has performed with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, the wind ensembles of the University of Texas at Arlington and with the Lincoln Municipal Band. Beach has also performed as a substitute musician with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and Tucson Symphony Orchestra. Overseas, he performed the Hummel and Leopold Mozart trumpet concertos with the Szczecin Philharmonic in Poland and the Brandenburg Concerto No.2 with the Malaysian Philharmonic. A frequent performance prize winner, Beach was the second trumpet player in International Trumpet Guild conference history to win both the Solo and Orchestral Excerpt competitions in the same conference (2011) and only the second American ever to win the Ellsworth Smith International Trumpet Competition. In addition to his performance career, Beach is the creator of the well-known podcast “That’s Not Spit, It’s Condensation!”, in which he interviews prominent musicians, conductors, composers, educators and industry professionals on a variety of topics. Beach also gives master classes and coaching on practice organization and personal development.
