The Romanian singer Anca Parghel, who unfortunately died far too early, was one of the most remarkable voices in European jazz. Her specialties were intonation security, a wide (four octaves) vocal range and diverse shades in her expressive possibilities. Then there was her exuberant temperament.
At the beginning of her international career, at the end of the 80s / beginning of the 90s, she toured with the German pianist Klaus Ignatzek in various line-ups through European jazz clubs. In 1992 the studio production Airballoon was created with standards and compositions by Klaus Ignatzek.
Anca Parghel interprets jazz standards on Airballoon in a very personal and incomparable way.
