On the new release of the GNAGS guitarist Per Frost, he collects the threads from an impressive, 50 years long and still super active career. The album, consisting of both own songs, cover versions and instrumental numbers, is now released on Friday, January 5th.
The album "The Calling" lands with a mix of own songs, covers and a number of instrumental numbers, thus reflecting the profile Frost and his band have been touring with since 2008.
Per Frost says about his own songs on the record: "My own songs are sometimes dumped a little unannounced - from which I do not quite know, but I have a penchant for the blues-based songs and pop up a groove in it - or near - the genre sometimes results in a song ".
Per Frost has been inspired through time, and has led to the fact that the album also features cover versions: "With the cover versions, it's a bit different how they got into the pot. "Black Crow Blues" occurred after listening to a YouTube video, American drummer Steve Jordan gave his explanation for rock'n'roll. "A Case Of You" occurred when I once went home and painted a week's time - Joni Mitchell's album "Both Sides Now" ran in constant rotation for a week - and just that song was all the way in there where I thought, that I will have to try to make my own version of ".
When Frost performs live, he has always had the pleasure of "stretching out" in some instrumental numbers. He even comes from a generation where instrumental pieces were as good as matched with song numbers. The song "The Calling", bearing the same name as the album, is just one of the instrumental numbers that puts its mark on the record.
About the publishing guidelines, Per Frost says: "Thus, generally the devis has been that I had something to go back to come forward, just to land where it unfolds in something new, present and living. It's about showing respect for the roots one's own, but also about playing with today's possibilities, sounds and access to making music."
