This first CD from the Atalanta Fugiens Orchestra with conductor Vanni Moretto aims to continue the incomplete series of recordings of the Milan Symphony Archive previously published for Deutsche Harmonia Mundi. The Sinfonie milanesi are unique among Zingarellis symphonies as they are in three movements. Composed around 1780 in a Middle European style, they reflect the stylistic changes of the epoch through the dramatic use of the minor mode, reaching new and powerful expressive meanings, after decades in which the use of the major mode was predominant.
