Camerata Antonio Soler - Gaetano Brunetti: Sinfonías Vol. 3 (2019)

Gaetano Brunetti (1744-1798), together with Luigi Boccherini, is one of the most important Spanish composers of the classical period. Brunetti, of Italian origins, came to Spain in the 1760s, and in 1768 he began working in the Royal Chapel as a violinist. In 1770 he was appointed as the violin teacher to the Prince of Asturias, the future Carlos IV, in whose service he remained until 1798, when he died.

Brunetti is the author of 39 symphonies and numerous chamber works (50 string quartets and 66 quintets, etc.). Although this music was intended for the court, it was never edited and never left the court. This prohibited his work to be known to the public, hindering it from receiving the recognition it deserves.

Gaetano Brunetti is considered by many experts as a genius comparable to Boccherini and even Haydn.

The Camerata Antonio Soler faces an ambitious project that will aim to restore all the historic musical heritage of this great composer, consisting of the recording of his entire symphonic and orchestral works, which are 39 symphonies (33 of them unpublished in the music business), the Variations for orchestra and some sets of minuets and contredanses; all of which will be recorded in a total of 14 cd’s. The Spanish ensemble has already recorded six of Brunetti’s symphonies in two CD’s, besides a CD with Arias & Scenes by Brunetti and Boccherini.
