Akira Inoue - Anne (1989)

This excellent, eclectic CD has both an English title (simply "Anne") and a Japanese title ("夢見るアンの島~プリンス・エドワード島の光と風~", or "Dreaming Anne's Island ~Light and Wind of Prince Edward Island~"). Rather than being inspired directly by "Anne of Green Gables," it appears to be a sort of image album for a photo book of the same name by Kazutoshi Yoshimura (info here, if you can read Japanese: https://iss.ndl.go.jp/books/R100000002-I000002012397-00). Some of his photos appear in the CD booklet and his photography has since been featured in many projects related to "Anne of Green Gables". Whatever the inspiration, it's one of my favorite albums, ranging from gentle acoustic jazz to proggy fusion to art pop. Highly recommended.
