Born and raised in Oklahoma, Lisa learned to play piano by ear at the tender age of three and by six she was receiving professional instruction from Dr. Clarence Burg, who was at the time, the Dean of the School of Music at Oklahoma City University. In the fourth grade Lisa began studying and performing at Mummers Theater in Oklahoma City. She landed her first professional role in Lyric Theatre’s Summer Stock production of "Where's Charley?" at sixteen.
Lisa obtained her Bachelors Degree of Music in voice and piano from Oklahoma City University and studied voice with the well-known Florence Birdwell who trained many future stars including Kristin Chenoweth and Kelli O’Hara. After being crowned Miss Oklahoma, Lisa went on to win the talent portion at the Miss America pageant. Later she earned her Master’s Degree in Opera and Vocal Performance from the University of Maryland's prestigious Opera Studio.
From 1989 to 2008, Lisa lived in the Washington D.C. area and was a resident member of the Washington National Opera. She also performed with the Wolf Trap Opera at Wolf Trap Farm Park. During that time, Lisa sang as a solo performer on many occasions at The White House and The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and for U.S. Presidents Reagan and Bush and many other Heads of State around the world.
Lisa has shared the stage with nationally renowned performers such as Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, and Renee Fleming. In 2013, she was invited to perform at the Salzburg Music Festival in Austria.
Another facet of her professional career includes writing and composing her own original music. Her albums to date include: “Satori” (2002), “Arcana” (2006), and “Noel” (2012). Her original composition, “A l’infini,” appeared on Bravo’s reality series, “Project Runway” in 2005.
Lisa presents her latest musical work entitled Realm of Dreams, which will be released on March 31, 2015. Realm of Dreams beautifully matches Lisa’s lyrics, voice and orchestration creating a sound that is ethereal, sophisticated and timeless.
