Stan Webb's Chicken Shack - Stan The Man Live (1995)

Recorded live on August 20th, 1995 at The Robin Hood, Merry Hill, Brierly Hill, near Dudley, West Midlands, England. CS are led by the irrepressible Stan `the man' Webb, a magnificent guitarist and showman who freely "borrowed" many of his greatest licks from the mighty Freddie King. CS emerged from the English Midlands in the early '60's and carved out a big reputation during a then vibrant UK blues scene. After several early brushes with commercial success, even managing a couple of crossover UK chart records in the late 60s, Stan Webb kept the show on the road, despite countless personnel changes with different musicians playing on every tour and album. Stan and CS toured and recorded throughout the 70s and 80s releasing an album every 18 months or so, and had a strong following in Europe. After an unusual lull in recording and touring, Stan re-emerged in the 90s with another new line-up, and in 1995 he signed CS to the indie Blues label, Indigo, for whom they cut "Stan The Man Live". Stan has been playing blues and R&B for over 45 years now and has never compromised his music or sold out to commercialism. How many artists can you say that about? This live album is as good as anything he has ever done, and is HR by A.O.O.F.C.
