These four guitar players brought their own considerable talents and different styles together for a fairly relaxed set of originals and covers. Backed by a rhythm section of bass player Bobby Vega, drummer John Hanes, and keyboardist Bob Bralove (a Grateful Dead associate), the four guitarists step forward by turn on various tracks, and also pass the baton around the circle within given selections.
This is, in a manner, a symposium on just what constitutes psychedelic guitar playing. There's everything from Kaiser's upper-register guitar synthesizer torrents to Mandel's and Roulette's blues-based excursions. A common ground throughout is found in modal structures, as their open-ended possibilities having long been a foundation for psychedelic players the world over. Freddie Roulette sings on a number of the songs, but for the most part this is an instrumental celebration of the electric guitar.
