Raymond Van Het Groenewoud - Archivaris (2018)

Archivaris is the CD that collects the life work of Raymond van het Groenewoud: a self-composed blueprint of more than 50 years of songwriting. Music flanked by a booklet in which Raymond tells his story in the form of an idiosyncratic introspection that forms the guiding principle in his musical evolution.

Without Raymond, the Flemish music landscape would not have looked the same. And that can be taken literally. Throughout his career, he paved the way for many genres within our borders: Rock 'n Roll & Rhythm' N Blues we hear in the first 20 tracks that start with 'Maria, Maria, I Love You', Prince-like pop at 'Enjoy', Gospel with 'Liefde Voor Muziek', Reggae with the radio hit 'Stapelgek Op Jou', listening music can be heard on the LP intimate, Bossa Nova with 'Chachacha', Chanson in 'Je Veux De L'amour' and that next to a long list of iconic hits such as 'Girls', 'Brussels By Night' and 'Vlaanderen Boven'.

The fact that Raymond received a lifetime achievement award at the MIAs at the beginning of this year is therefore a justified achievement of his oeuvre.

Archivist is a fascinating journey through time and the head of the master on a path that always navigates between the big and small gesture. It provides insight into a purifying quest in which he gradually turns into a true chronicler of the soul through familiar work and forgotten gems.
