RP12 arrives in the colorful compact-disc formatted album Resume by Volitune. Following a five-year break after issuing stellar recordings at Occult Research and The Centrifuge (among others), Volitune returns with fifteen funky tracks produced on an array of hardware in his bedroom studio.
Lovers of classic drum machines and analog synthesis will find a wealth of enjoyable ear-tinglers on Resume, which somehow manages to remind us of all our favorite aspects of Rephlex, early Warp, Drexciyan Detroit and Chicago acid house, while managing to hold down a very Volitunian mood and flow that seeps out slowly across the runtime. A lot of the material here could easily be dropped into a club environment, but like all good braindance albums, Resume could (and does) also work on headphones and inside car stereos, to devastating effect.
Most of the "heads" reading this text will already know what we mean before even pressing play, but for the one-liners among you: Resume is an action-packed display of bedroom electronic music that already feels as if it belongs in conversations about classic braindance records, and if it's left up to us, from now on it will.
