Morning Show - Come Around (2021)

VANCOUVER, BC – Alt-rock duo Morning Show are set to release their sophomore album “Come Around” on January 15th, 2021. On December 4th the group will release the single “Dark Days”.

Formed in 2013 as a songwriting project based in two different cities, the duo have slowly narrowed the distance between them until 2019 when singer Ethan Henthorn moved quite literally across the hall from multi-instrumentalist/producer Ryan Stephenson. This change of scenery quickly inspired the upcoming sophomore record, the follow-up to 2017’s “Wine”. “Come Around” was almost entirely recorded and mixed under that same East Vancouver roof and was co-produced and engineered by Shane Stephenson, a third housemate.

“Baby, Can You Drive Me Home?” is the first offering from this new perspective. It’s a song whose subtleties and understatements are gradually taken over by a cloud of chaos, and a desperate plea for change. This has nothing to do with the duo’s living arrangements. Follow-up singles “Golden, or I feel like an ocean holding a mountain” and “Dark Days” dive deeper into the feelings provoked by “Baby”. “Golden” embraces mania with raw acoustics being attacked amidst divergent rhythms with both proclamatory and questioning vocals, whereas “Dark Days” hears the band coming together and playing in unison with lyrical themes of reflection and lasting friendship.
