The quintet was born from the idea of Manuel Volpe (Studio Rubedo) to make recording jams with musicians who had never played together before. The atypical ensemble selected for recording derives from a subsequent cue by composer Stefano Risso: two drums, two saxes, a bass.

Meeting for the first time, instruments in hand, the leitmotif of the session soon became to overcome the symmetry of the two musicians playing the exact same instrument to create, all together, the illusion of a single musician - Shiva but with double the possibility. Hence ANANASNNA, the double of the "quasipalindromo" summarized in a name inspired by a sketch by comic artist Sio Scottecs (from which the illustration with the name of the band at the opening of this release was extracted, ed), and the challenge of record a complete album in the limited space of those 48 hours available. A day to compose. One day to register.

The result is “Veloci come in 500”, a debut album out on Friday 22 January 2021 for AUAND Records in physical and digital format. The release was anticipated by the release of the preview single "Scatta il rosso" on January 1, 2021.

Along with the album, the first official video clip also arrives: also recorded during the recording session, the video for "Peso a valle" is a montage of stolen moments and presents the musicians in the composing phase. The videoclip was released today on lastampa.it.

"Guys, if everyone were as quick as you to record a record, the studios wouldn't work anymore!"

The oxymoron title "Veloci come in 500", ANANASNNA's debut album, which includes eight unreleased instrumental tracks and a collective improvisation between Motown heat and eclecticism, derives from a fun "release" of the sound engineer. to John Zorn.

Fast, but without haste. The album was recorded in 5 hours of direct recording with the musicians gathered in the same room. To overcome the symmetry of the ensemble and create a texture of acoustic illusion for the listener, the compositions were conceived with the aim of making the "double" instruments always play together, creating harmonic or timbral textures rather than real solo parts. : equal voices which, melodically chasing each other, help to create a harmonic texture. The album is a moving scenario where saxophones can choose to act alone or as a unicum while the continuous dialogue between the two batteries flows like an underground river of polyrhythmic games: simple structures but with different metrics. Music to dance, in short, but also to stumble.
