Pepe Zaragoza - La cala de l'encís (2021)

"La cala de l'encís" is the second album by Pepe * Zaragoza 5te. The first of the band, La plaça dels somnis (Sedajazz Records 2017), received three awards in important festivals: First Prize in the III International Contest of Talavera de la Reina, First Prize in the VII Jazz Contest in Castelló and second prize in the Getxo International Jazz Competition. It also received enthusiastic criticism from the specialized press of the sector.

Continuing along the lines of the first album, the terminology used to describe this album comes to represent a magical place where there are only things that we are passionate about, that * turn us on.

In this album we can find an evolution in the music of Pepe Zaragoza, although the first album was based on the modern Hard bop language, in this second album we can find roots from Latin music or flamenco, which are roots closer to our culture than the language of jazz itself.

The excellent trumpeter Voro García describes the music of "La cala de l'encís" as Zaragoza seeking "his own sound from him, as a trumpeter and composer". Javier Vercher, a prestigious international soloist, points out that "Pepe * Zaragoza writes music with a really interesting master's degree".
