ASHFORD & SIMPSON, simply put, are one of the best song-writing duos the world has ever seen. Former successful Motown writers, this powerhouse duo penned a string of hits for greats like Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross. It is little wonder that they were inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 2002.
After the release of their first Gold selling album Send It in 1977, ASHFORD & SIMPSON would follow up with yet another Certified Gold album with the release of IS IT STILL GOOD TO YA in 1978.
Single offerings FLASHBACK and the album’s title track would both enjoy US R&B Chart success with the latter climbing to #12. However it was the album’s debut single that would become the duo’s as yet biggest hit single. Spending an incredible five weeks at #2 on the US R&B Chart, IT SEEMS TO HANG ON would simultaneously reach the top 50 on the UK Pop chart and comfortably top the UK Disco chart at the same time.
