Award winning top 10 Billboard artist and composer Helen Jane Long has a very signature sound yet still remains undefinable. Her music has stirred such emotional connection to fans in a way that no other piano music has ever done before. Helen’s albums have been streamed over 1.5 BILLION TIMES on US streaming services alone. Then take into consideration ITunes, Spotify, Amazon and the many other streaming sites also receiving a hefty hit on HJL air play…
Her seventh album ‘Perspective” exploded onto our radio stations. This is no surprise given her previous album ‘Identity’ debuted in the top 10 Billboard charts in 2016. Her first ever music video, ‘When Angels Rise’ (inspired from the track from her ‘Identity’ album) won “Best Inspirational Film” in both the New York Film Awards and Global Film Awards in Los Angeles.
She has written extensively for film and television writing memorable music for some of the world’s most lucrative brands including British Airway’s multi-million-pound campaign, ‘To Fly, To Serve’ (“Aviators” released on her Intervention album). Her music enjoys major synch licensing all over the world. This again is not surprising given Helen has worked closely with prestigious composers including the late Jerry Goldsmith, Ron Goodwin and Howard Shore, when he was composing and recording his Academy Award-winning soundtrack for the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Born and raised in the South-East England, Helen was playing piano by ear aged four. Her ability to recreate the sound she heard quickly became one of the cornerstones of her composing career, as she taught herself to play many instruments in quick succession.
In 2006, three days after sending in a demo to Warner music, she signed a record deal with WCJ and released her first album “Porcelain” (2007). It went on to critical acclaim on major radio stations worldwide and remains their top selling album. Countless requests for live shows were the catalyst for bringing Helen out of hiding and kick starting her international touring career. “Now I wonder why I avoided it for so long, it’s the one thing that connects me to my audience and I love it!”
Between 2008-2019 Helen has released a further six albums (Embers, Intervention, Porcelain AIR, Identity, Live at St James’s, Perspective), as well as continuing to write for film and regularly tour America. In 2019 Helen returned from Sundance / Slamdance Film Festival in Salt Lake City after her latest film score project “Pick Of The Litter” with director and producer Dana Nachman (Batkid, Warner Brothers) recorded at Abbey Road Studios headlined the event and was sold to IFC Films after a 48-hour bidding war erupted between keen distributors.
2020 has been a challenging and uncertain year for everyone globally and live face to face concerts and touring has been understandably put on hold. However, lockdown did not stop creative action and so Helen decided to adapt her show format and streamed her first exclusive live worldwide show on Saturday 19th December and announced the release of her eighth album Vessel Of Light which hit the airwaves and being downloaded and streamed at unbelievable pace, firmly establishing Helen Jane Long as one of the most influential and popular pianists and artists of the 21st century.
