Pedro Emanuel Pereira is one of the most outstanding Portuguese pianists of his generation. Known for his talent for performing works of various styles, the pianist also tends to compose and improvise around compositions of diverse nature, a territory less frequented by classical music pianists. His compositions carry much of his own art, his solid course in classical music, his approach to the orchestral instrument that is the piano, and his way of improvising is also different, with other motives, other influences, and other paths.

When he was only 15 years old, Pedro Emanuel Pereira won the International Piano Competition “City of San Sebastian”, in Spain, in the Superior category up to 24 years. One year later he made his debut at Casa da Musica, in Oporto.

Winner of the First Prize and Hvorostovsky Prize at the “PianoVoce” International Competition, in Moscow, in 2014, and the 2017 winner of the “Santa Cecilia” International Competition, in Oporto, Pedro Emanuel Pereira has won the first prize in more than 20 international piano competitions.

Pedro Emanuel Pereira was born in 1990 in Guimarães, Portugal.

At the early age of 5, he began his musical studies by playing the piano. He then attended the musical high school in his native country where he graduated in 2008. During his education, he studied under direct tutelage of Marian Pivka.

In 2008, Pedro Emanuel Pereira moved to Russia to study at the Moscow State Conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovsky, under Professor Vera Gornostaeva’s guidance, and supported by a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

In 2014, he graduated from Moscow Conservatory with full marks.

In 2015, he moved back to Europe to study at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, in the Netherlands, under Professor Naum Grubert’s guidance. As the best incoming master’s student, he received a scholarship from the Jacques Vonk Foundation.

He graduated in 2017 with honours, with the highest possible marks.

During his studies in Moscow, Pedro Emanuel Pereira performed more than 200 concerts all over Russia as a soloist, with orchestras, and in chamber music groups.

His international career has already had him open performances at venues throughout the world, as well as at a number of prestigious festivals in Denmark, France, Germany, India, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Ukraine, and U.S.A.
