Luigi Milani was born in Desio in 1937. In 1960 he graduated in double bass at the Conservatory of Bolzano under the guidance of Maestro Carlo Delecraz and soon after he joined the Haydn Orchestra of that same city, where he remained for four years, at the same time I start an intense chamber music activity.
In 1964 he won the competition for a place in the RAI Orchestra of Turin, where in 1972, following a further competition, he obtained the role of 1st Double Bass, a role he held until 1994.
In 1968 he was called to be part of the newly formed Italian Chamber Orchestra founded by Salvatore Accardo together with other prestigious musicians and it will be a twenty-year collaboration that will often see him play also as a soloist.
There have been numerous collaborations with prestigious orchestras, always as 1st Double Bass, we remember the Filarmonica della Scala and the World Symphony Orchestra. His activity with I Solisti di Torino and with the Quintetto d'Archi of the RAI of Turin was also intense and with unanimous acknowledgments in the national and international fields. The amount of solo repertoire recordings made for Radio-RAI is also consistent.
For years he was lecturer at the Professional Qualification Courses for Orchestra of the Fiesole School of Music.

Luigi Milani born in Desio, Italy, in 1937. In 1968 he started his twenty-years collaboration with the Orchestra da Camera Italiana togheter with Salvatore Accardo, often performing as a soloist too. He also played as Principal Double-bass with many other orchestras and chamber groups, like Filarmonica della Scala, the World Symphony Orchestra, I Solisti di Torino, RAI's Quintetto d'Archi di Torino. He also recorded a large number of solo pieces for Radio-RAI.
He was teaching at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole in the Professional Qualification Courses for Orchestra.
