First were the three, namely the seasoned orchestra leader Jesper Bjarnesen - or simply JB - on vocals and electric guitar, his son Oscar Martin "Big O" Eriksen on drums and Jais Kurečko Eriksen on bass. The latter two will be known for their long-standing membership of the well-established jump blues with multi-band Big O & the Blue Quarters. Jais Kurečko Eriksen recently left this orchestra.
These three musicians formed the Cozy Blues Band in 2015 and had a permanent commitment at Eyde's Cellar in the center of Horsens. The trio, which Bluesnews.dk also had the pleasure of experiencing, quickly became a popular live name with their tight, swinging interpretations of various blues songs as well as some original compositions.
The trio gradually emerged from Eyde's Cellar and began touring and reached a career high in 2018 when they played at the Swedish Gothenburg Blues Festival. In 2020, The Cozy Blues Band began recording their debut album Thank you blues and changed their name to JB & the Hüggeli.
At the same time, they expanded the crew with saxophonist Hans Jørgen "Hanse" Jensen (read more here). The same has been around and appears on the Big Creek Slim album Ramblin 'Big Creek (read review here). In addition, they snuck another new orchestra member in the back door, namely the jazz and blues keyboardist Kim Nedergaard, who many remember from the legendary blues and rhythm & blues orchestra Kim Bacon.
