With this splendid record, Luca Scandali continues his integral of organ works that Johann Sebastian Bach wrote based on the works of the Italian composers he had chosen as models during his youth studies and which allowed him to forge the style that made him famous. Despite this purpose within certain "didactic" limits, the works presented in this disc are by no means pedisseque reworkings of other authors, but brilliant, original and rich in personality pieces, able to legitimately stand alongside the greatest masterpieces of the supreme Cantor Lipsiense . The program includes six concerts with an unmistakably Venetian flavor, five of which are based on pages by Antonio Vivaldi (a concert of the Estro harmonico op. 3, one of the Stravaganza op. 4 and the well-known "Grosso Mugul") and one on the Concerto op. 1 n. 2 by Benedetto Marcello, composer of great contemporary eclecticism of the Red Priest. These works are proposed to us in the interpretation of Luca Scandali, who has already made several very interesting discs for the Elegy, among which the two volumes of the symphonies of Father Davide da Bergamo stand out. A record that deserves to be taken into serious consideration also for the splendid sound palette of the Dell’Orto & Lanzini organ of the Parish Church of Santa Maria Assunta in Vigliano Biellese and the excellent quality of the sound recording.
