Alois Mühlbacher's career continues almost seamlessly from the young soprano soloist to the countertenor. He sang at the opening gala of the new Vladivostok Opera House, at the New Year's Eve concert of the Mozarteum Orchestra in the Great Festival Hall under Ivor Bolton in Salzburg and Daniel in the oratorio “Susanna” under Martin Haselböck in the Great Music Association Hall in Vienna. In December 2016 he was alto soloist in Bach's Christmas Oratorio in Munich. In the Wiener Musikverein he sang Bach's Mass in B minor, the “St. Matthew Passion” and the “St. John Passion”. The latter has also been performed in Los Angeles and Mexico. He has also performed at the “Resonanzen” festival in the Wiener Konzerthaus.

As a result of years of collaboration with the ensemble Ars Antiqua Austria and Gunar Letzbor, his voice from the age of a choirboy to this day has been documented as a soloist on numerous CD recordings with predominantly Austrian baroque music.

His special love is song singing. Together with his piano partner Franz Farnberger, he has already given numerous recitals. His unmistakable, supple and versatile vocal sound enables him to enjoy a wide-ranging repertoire from Schubert to Richard Strauss, which is unusual for countertenors.

Alois Mühlbacher, born in Upper Austria in 1995, caused a sensation as a soloist in the St. Florian Boys' Choir with spectacular CD recordings such as arias of the Queen of the Night and Zerbinetta as well as songs by Gustav Mahler and celebrated great success on the podiums of international concert halls. He sang the soprano solo in Mahler's 4th Symphony in the Salzburg Festival Hall and the role of Yniold in “Pelleas et Melisande” in Tokyo. Franz Welser-Möst - “I've never heard a boy's voice in my life” - and Joan Holender engaged the fifteen-year-old as a Young Shepherd in “Tannhäuser” at the Vienna State Opera. Later he sang Oberto in “Alcina” there under the direction of Marc Minkowski. He is the 1st boy in the "Magic Flute" recording under René Jacobs.
