The Mid City Drifters are a classic country band based in New Orleans and fronted by vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Ron Hotstream. Hotstream is a veteran of the New Orleans music scene and has performed all over the world. He has toured in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Holland, Denmark, and Uganda, and the Drifters tour in Europe every summer.
The Drifters are most definitely a "retro" act, but not necessarily purists. The band plays a mix of vintage sounding originals and classic gems from the golden age of electric country music, with a special affinity for 1960s trucker country. Their music is also heavily influenced by rockabilly, surf, and even Spaghetti Western themes ala Ennio Morricone. They have performed at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Bayou Country Superfest in Baton Rouge, and will release their debut studio cd, 13 Days, in Sept of 2016.
Ron Hotstream and the Mid City Drifters always make an impression on their audiences with their authentic, vintage sound, Ron’s rich, resonant baritone , and their outstanding musicianship and showmanship. Even non-country fans end up dancing, stomping their feet and having a great time at their high energy shows, which are frequented by other New Orleans musicians who love what they’re doing.
