This album is the result of the curiosity about our musical roots. The repertoire is inspired by early music from The Lowlands (Belgium & The Netherlands).
One of our most usefull sources was the archive of Pol Heyns, who traveled through Flanders in the 1930s to immortalize folk songs and dances before it was too late. Besides field recordings we also found inspiration in old songbooks and polyphonic music.
All other pieces are compositions based on the same historical spirit of the project.
This music would not have come to life without the inspiration and work of Pol Heyns, Herman Dewit, Philip Fourier, Hubert Boone, Paul Rodenko, Liliane Pauwels, Gabriëlle Vinequier, Christine Schoutetens, Hendrik Daems, Paul Collaer and the Dutch song bank.
