The Blues rock trio Band Of Heysek visited the studio during their visit to Mississippi in the USA last year, where they recorded 2 records. The first album "Juke My Joint" was released in March this year. The latter, entitled "Bad Ideas", is now being released and once again hosts Kenny Brown, the master of the raw and authentic "Hill Country Blues" style. The album was recorded with good old analog technique directly on tape, live, all together. Bronson Tew (a collaborator of Fat Possum founder Bruce Watson) at Dial Back Sound Studio in Water Valley, Mississippi, is responsible for analog recording and mixing using devices and instruments that helped write the history of blues and soul music.
When, in the autumn of 2018, members of the Band Of Heysek accompanied the so-called Hill Country Blues at the Šumperk Blues Alive Festival, no one knew what the consequences would be. In the summer of 2019, the Brno group was invited directly to the mountainous area of northern Mississippi for the iconic blues festival North Mississippi Hill Country Picnic. They combined this journey with other concerts and wandering in the cradle of the blues. The culmination was a joint recording in a studio in Water Valley with contemporary blues icons Kenny Brown and R.L.Boyc.
Kenny Brown is an experienced guitarist and slide guitarist in northern Mississippi, whom the legendary R.L. Burside called his "adoptive son." He complemented frontman, guitarist and singer Honza Švihálek with his guitar. Rhythmically, the whole recording is supported by Mojmír "Bob" Sabolovič on bass and Lukáš Kytnar on drums. The combination of Moravian "shovel pickaxe" blues and "hill country blues" from the area south of Memphis is truly unique. And fully functional. It is audible that the flocks from Brno enjoyed their American trip very much. Now you can enjoy their fulfilled "American dream" too.
