Jealous, recorded in 1982 but not released until 1986, put Hooker on the comeback trail that culminated in the 1989 GRAMMY-winner The Healer. In contrast to the parade of guest stars who grace most of his late-period career album, Jealous is a down-and-dirty effort from Hooker's seasoned tour band. Despite its humble origins, it was nominated for a GRAMMY, won a W.C. Handy Award, and remains a vital work from a genuine blues master.
