Rise -- Veronica's second album in English and her first release on H.O.L.A. Recordings -- is her finest collection to date, boasting an appealing mixture of Latin rhythms, dance club beats, hip-hop attitude and mainstream pop balladry. Executive producer Jellybean Benitez has assembled an excellent cast of collaborators -- including producer Dave Hall (Madonna, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey) and Coati Mundi -- which results in a winning record. There are a few slow spots on the record, but its best moments, such as the sensuous "Rise," the funky "No One But You" (a duet with Craig Mack) and the soulful "In a Dream," make it worthwhile.
