It's a long family story between Evidence Music and MC Brother Culture. After their meeting in 2013, and thus the beginnings of Evidence Music, the current passes immediately. The connection is made and from then on, the Evidence team accompanies Brother Culture on a large number of live shows, travels to England, and collaborates with him on a major part of their productions.
Amongst these collaborations, we find the hits Dreadlocks Things and Jump Up Pon it. The success of their collaboration leads to the album Code Name elected best Dub album in 2018. The realization of a new album was a must for both parties.
Brother Culture offers us again a powerful album, worked flows and percussive dub for a very successful project. The collaboration between the label and the MC is mature and the quality is there. Instrumentals precisely, which sound particularly good since they are produced by a hand of master : Radikal Vibration, Addis records, Little Lion Sound and Derrick Sound in Dubmaking, all supervised by Evidence music. A recipe that contains all the necessary ingredients to meet the expectations of thirsty Dub and Reggae fans. Sharp Basslines, sharp skanks and of course the secret homemade sauce are on the menu.
All these productions are, of course, sublimated by the timeless voice of Brother Culture. A Mc who has always been particularly fond of Dub Session and you can hear it! Stepping Up and Battlefield are the perfect reflection of this, two Anthem in the image of the album: Powerful, energetic and destined to make as many sound systems roar as home speakers. The album also features two special guests, the promising Brazilian singer Junior Dread and Jamaican veteran Nello B.
After Code Name a particular work was brought to the theme and this album is much more militant and personal echoing the recent experience of Brother Culture, including an unfounded arrest in Mexico during his tour promoting the album Code Name which will earn him 1 month in jail in Mexico City. He tells this story on the track Clear My Name.
A very homogenous album, with the guiding line of Evidence Music. This quality, coupled with Brother Culture's style, offers a general mastered piece of art for this project.
There are many electronic sounds that place the album in the era of time without straying too far from the roots of the genre. We can take for example the track 12 Lights as a leader of this kind of avant-garde tune, influenced by different styles.
In conclusion, whether you want to dance, skank, learn or just have fun in the evening: 12 Lights is the Dub album of this fall 2020.
