Back in 1965 The Gravel Camp were five 15 and 16 year old school friends who formed a band and played school dances, village halls and local blues venues in the NE of England. At that time in Britain pop music was raging and the Blues boom was in full swing! The Gravel Camp carved out a tiny niche in pop music history by playing R and B where ever and whenever they could! Their heroes were Jimmy Reed, Muddy Waters and Chuck Berry. In the summer of '65 school was out and everyone went their separate ways and left behind the legacy of a few gigs and a record made locally called "Tell Me". In 2000 three of the original band got back together and with friends re recorded "Tell Me". Fast forward to 2015 when original drummer Garry Cosgrove wrote three new songs and, along wth guitarist buddy Lee Hardesty, recorded them in St Maarten under the name of "The Gravel Camp" So, the Gravel Camp lives on! Original members Dave O'Donnell and Johnny Claydon have sadly passed away now. Bassist Michael "Robbie" Robinson still lives in the NE of England and guitarist Steve May lives in Canada. Drummer Garry Cosgrove is still active and is determined to keep the name of The Gravel Camp alive!! Rock on!!!
