This is a great album and contains songs that defy its 1970's creation. "Jay's Movie Song" is essentially an accompanied bass solo. Extremely melodic, well composed, recorded and performed. The track, "And Now I Lay Me Down" could pass as contemporary at any indie-alt coffee house and the cover version of Hoyt Axton's seminal "Never been to Spain" is an outstanding down - tempo version with the most un-cliché steel guitar work you'll ever hear. Absolutely a rival for the 1971 Three Dog Night version as it retains the original country essence without the camp. This version really nails it. No boot-scooting, just a close dance with your best girl, a few Lone Star beers, and a ride home in the F-150.... --Michael Wehner
