Review by Blackmale, Amazon:
I write from the perspective as a Candy rather than Hans officianado and therefore assume that the direction on this album comes more from father than girl. As such we get Euro-dance flavours enhanced by the dualled horns (of every voice) of Hans and Candy in various combinations.
Very hard to tell whether the Student has become the Master, but DD allows you to explore the possibilities. It also explains why Hans and Candy haven't recorded before, the latter being clearly derivative of Dad spearated only by her own influences.
Two exceptional instrumentalists playing on an album, only lead to two exceptional performances - no question. How you view this title is then very much tempered by how you view the backing style.
HD has called for everything from Euro beat, Dutch hip-hop, DJ Chillout and even Berlin-esque garage scene, bringing CD closer to home than her US funk and R'n'B releases of the past.
The tracks are universally deep, richly worked arrangements with hard dancing electro-elements complimented by delicately positioned acoustic and tradditional playing. Two thirds of this is great "Music" the remainder is Art and You either get it or You don't - there are elements that suggest Sax and Drum (machine) just don't mix.
