The solo debut album of countertenor Jan Börner and the ensemble „Il Profondo“ contains new interpretations of „early cantatas“ and „spiritual concerts“ from the 17th century.
'absorta est...' in english: 'overwhelmed is...' maybe alludes to the overwhelming of the worldly death. This issue is like a thread through all of the baroque works on this album. But overwhelming is also the tonal clearness and the musical senitiveness, which is shown by the countertenor Jan Börner, together with the Ensemble Il Profondo, playing these baroque pieces, some of them newly discovered.
Beside the viole-consort, the dulcian and the lutes, there also is played an italian processional organ, dating from the 17th century, whose bellows are operated manually.
Jan Börner, countertenor
Johannes Keller, organ
Anaïs Chen, violin
Eva Saladin, violin
Sonoko Asabuki, violin, viola
Johannes Frisch, viola
Dominique Tinguely, dulzian
Mirko Arnone, theorbe, tiorbino
Daniele Caminiti, theorbe

Federico Abraham, violon
