Freetown Quartet - Christiania (Live at Borneteateret) (2020)

Czech saxophonist and composer Luboš Soukup has lived and worked in Copenhagen for ten years. Christiania's "free city" is not only a popular tourist attraction, but also the seat of an excellent jazz club - B? Rneteateret. It was here that Soukup invited his Prague colleague - pianist Vojtěch Procházka (Vertigo) - to join him and his Danish teammates (double bassist Emil Brun Madsen is also the artistic director of the jazz club and drummer Morten H? Sum has been Soukup's regular teammate for many years). played two concerts, the recording of which is the basis of this album. Energetic play, freedom of speech and imagination without borders are the hallmarks of these recordings, whose "uncombed" is as welcome a foreign exchange as the congenial commitment of the players, which would hardly be achieved during the studio recording.
