In Gargantúa, Ciklus Ensemble has carefully set and adapted the novel by François Rabelais to be narrated. With this project, Ciklus Ensemble proposes a dialogue between the 16th century and today. Written in 1534, the novel Gargantúa mixes humor with social and political satire: "although the novel refers to the Renaissance model of life and thought, there are many aspects that can make this work continue to question, entertain and even bother us", explains grouping.
The person in charge of the music for this project is the composer Iñaki Estrada (1977), who with a great sense of humor has managed to give the right tone to surround the incredible stories of the life of the giant Gargantúa with his music. The instrumental template is made up of violin, cello, flute, clarinet, accordion and percussion.
To be more precise with the original text, Ciklus Ensemble has opted for the figure of the narrator, trying to remember the spirit of the ancient troubadours. The person in charge of the narration is José́ Miguel Baena, actor and baritone who has performed in numerous productions of both opera and zarzuela, highlighting his collaboration with the Fura dels Baus.
