todavía - Orange Faint of Sky (2020)

Todavia is the blissful yet heartbreaking nugaze creation of multi-instrumentalist Rhyan Riesgo formed out of a little bedroom in Los Angeles in the year 2013. Todavia (toe-dah-vee-ah), the Spanish word for, “still/yet,” is an​ intentional​ word that can be used in many different contexts’, with double meanings in a multitude of different placements. The ​double​ theme or, ​twin​ theme is one Todavia explores in both musicianship & lyric-writing - double vocaling using contrasting octaves, double entendres within songs exploring gender identity & sexuality, and the duality and struggle of finding performer within producer. Rhyan plays & tracks all instruments - guitar, synth(s), drum machine, bass & vocals, and produces, mixes & masters all sounds under the Todavia moniker. The biggest grapple being bringing the lush & colorful sounds to life as one person.

In 2019, Todavia began performing as a duo featuring Rhyan on guitar and vocals and Cat on synths. With the two, a more organic & magnetic energy is brought to live performance utilizing loop pedals, sustained synth pads, and drowned reverbed vocals.

After releasing the most special work (to date) under the moniker, “Shyness” in 2017 - featuring tracks such as “Fix Myself,” “Say I”, and “Our Luck” - Todavia has spent the last three years living, unliving, learning, unlearning, understanding, confusing, writing and figuring out what it is to be ​lone. “ORANGE FAINT OF SKY” explores answering the failures of your past selves’ mistakes’. “ORANGE FAINT OF SKY” explores rebuilding trust with ​yourself even if it means projecting hallucinated and fabricated thoughts of affirmation to bring courage in conquering the mundane. “ORANGE FAINT OF SKY” is about never being enough and making peace with that reality. “ORANGE FAINT OF SKY” is the bright, orange moon staring back at you in your lone. “ORANGE FAINT OF SKY” is out on 10/3/20 and is self-released & self-produced by the DIY duo. “ORANGE FAINT OF SKY” will contain 11 tracks featuring singles, “Europa,” “Paradiso,” and 2018’s, “Sin Iris.”
