A prime slice of 1970’s soul, Coldwater Stone is the alias of songwriter, producer and vocalist Freddy Briggs. Briggs had produced and written for the Dells, Margie Joseph, the Goodies and Johnny Taylor among others, including vocalist Kimberly Tolliver – whom he was married to at the time. Originally released in 1973, “Defrost Me” features Briggs on lead vocals and was recorded at sessions in Cleveland's Agency Sound Studio, Muscle Shoals, and Miami's Criteria Studios. All selections have been newly remastered.
