Don't go into the 2013 compilation Old Grey Whistle Test: The Anthems expecting that all three discs here contain performances from the storied BBC television show of the '70s and '80s. True, some of the tracks here are taken from the show, but they're surrounded by classic rock cuts from the '60s, '70s, and '80s, including some songs that were cut before the show went on the air in 1971, such as Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues." It makes for a confused compilation, but on a cut-by-cut basis the songs are good, so if this is viewed as a classic rock sampler, it's pretty fun.
