We are as human beings surrounded by and a part of constant change within this universe. Everything breaks down and either dies or becomes reborn in a new form. The theory of positive disintegration suggests that through certain circumstances and processes we may reach a point of personal disintegration where we as a person, have the opportunity to break apart entirely or grow once more to form a stronger whole. We do not need to dissolve entirely like wood burnt to ashes and blown away on the breeze but instead, find the opportunity to weather the Winter like the tree which blooms again come Spring.
This concept and theory were inspiration for the theme and process of creating the album. Reflecting upon the experience of life as it unfolded, we captured live improvised recordings of guitar and piano within the studio. These were then processed and shaped in a fashion that could be described as disintegration to be reborn is the beautiful sounds and textures that make these songs.
