For all the stunning, prolonged success that Barry Blue has had in a career spanning more than fifty years...theres always been something missing. Thats where the new album Songs from The Heart Book comes in... previewing a collection of songs hes been wanting to record for a very long time. Barry explains them as the lost boys...the tunes he now realises no one ever should have sung before him...because theyre all too personal. So... hes taken these gems and recorded them in the way he has always wanted them to be heard. This new album is not a greatest hits revisited, nor an exercise in nostalgia, but a chance for him to reclaim the compositions that have meant the most to him. There is no overblown production just a set of songs as natural as a gentle breeze, their tasteful acoustics augmented by elegant piano, acoustic guitar and soaring harmonies. These are my legacy songs, he says with pride but not a trace of arrogance... I couldnt leave them in the past... I needed to drag them kicking and screaming back into the light where they belong. Barry continues... Whenever I write anything, its like writing a life in three minutes, and it usually is about my life, he goes on. Of course, Im thrilled when an artist of the calibre of Celine Dion or Diana Ross records one of my works...but theres always the feeling that I let these songs go. Its not that other artists didnt do them well...but now its time to get them back.
