As Earth, Wind & Fire‘s “September” enjoys an annual resurgence during its namesake month, the R&B/pop act’s classic 1978 single has just received a modern day remix treatment by Eric Kupper.
Originally released 42 years ago on CBS Records, the latest club culture incarnation comes courtesy of Sony Legacy and is a Gospel-fueled banger that utilizes all of the original vocals and instrumentation.
Since its 1970’s debut, “September” has enjoyed a significant and long lasting impact on music and culture, being featured in movies, supplying iconic samples, and has even found its way into European football stadium chants.
Orchestrated by highly-decorated dance music veteran DJ/producer Eric Kupper, his reimagined spin on EWF follows his Billboard chart-topping remix work for Diana Ross (“Ain’t No Mountain High Enough 2017”, “I’m Coming Out/Upside Down 2018”, “The Boss 2019”, and “Love Hangover 2020”), Judy Garland’s “The Man That Got Away” (1954), and “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor. Per usual, Kupper artfully maintains the full integrity of the original version of “September” all the while adding his signature sound that will appeal to original Earth, Wind & Fire fans as well as attract a whole new generation of music lovers.
