A little sweetness in this return, what do you think? Well here comes Corey Flood who comes from Philadelphia aka the second capital of emerging indie rock groups. The 100% female trio is made up of Ivy Gray-Klein (vocals, bass), Juliette Rando (drums) and Em Boltz (vocals, guitar) and distills influences between post-punk and dream-pop for a stunning result. on their first album called Hanging Garden.
Composed of nine tracks, Corey Flood exudes recklessness and reverie. One has only to judge the listening of the nine pieces as well melodic as nervous as are "Heaven Or" which opens the ball but still "Down The Hill" and "Honey" where the gently fuzzy riffs and the rhythms grazing the samba succeed in highlighting the haunting interpretations of the Gray-Klein / Boltz duo.
Very quickly, we come to understand the warm and endearing universe of Corey Flood. By shedding light on their daily life strewn with pitfalls, the Philadelphia trio does not hesitate to draw its inspiration from the greatest such as Throwing Muses, Helium and Pale Saints in particular on "Honey", "Crush" and "Kind Stranger" . Hanging Garden ends with a "Poppies" and despite the short duration of this first album, the melodic and heady compositions will have something to reevaluate the sympathy capital of the female group which is nesting peacefully on an increasingly concentrated stage.
