Ben Bondy - Cilbien Trance (2020)

In just the first half of 2020, Ben Bondy’s put out at least five releases—a few self-released, and two stunners on West Mineral and Experiences Ltd. Bondy’s use of dynamics and rhythm, coupled with his extremely deft ear for melody, always brings something captivating to each successive, stylistically varied release. This sixth collection of the year now finds Ben’s tunes existing clearly and firmly outside of Earth’s atmosphere. “Cilbien Trance” has a warmth and a softness to its edges, but doesn’t lack in deeply moving textures and grooves. The tracks herein feel of their own time and genre (Cilbien Trance, duh)—a specific environment seemingly deep within or high above (or both) from where I’m writing this. A contemplative collection of dance tracks suitable for actual dance, or other forms of mental and physical exploration. Otherworldly, beautiful music.
