I’m not always a big fan of jazz that focuses primarily on vocal works, but Angie has (more than) what it takes to make anyone who listens to her high-talent and sultry jazz vocals fall in love with her style and her soulful presence right NOW… check out the mellow and bluesy strains on “You’re My Thrill“… do you hear that voice? Languid and full of the mystery that jazz can be when in the right hands. One of my favorite jazz vocal tunes (yet) in 2017.
I have no doubt you’ll find Angie’s sweetness attractive on “Nice Girls Don’t Stay For Breakfast“… her sophistication from all her travels (she performed in Paris at Chez Papa when she first started singing) is right at the forefront of this ultra-cool performance… in fact, all the songs on this album were chosen carefully to showcase Angie’s wonderful and engaging vocal talent.
It was an easy choice for my personal favorite of the eleven songs offered up for your laid-back jazz listening pleasure… the upbeat opener, “Peel Me A Grape“, features some fine rhythms supporting Angie’s stellar vocal on this one… very impressive, to be sure. I give Angie and her players a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.98 for this fine album.~Dick Metcalf, editor, Contemporary Fusion Reviews
